The legal framework regulating the introduction/removal of currency values by individuals:
- Law No. 62/2008 on Foreign Exchange Regulation;
- Customs Code of the Republic of Moldova No. 95/2021;
- Government Decision No. 92/2023 on the implementation of the Customs Code No. 95/2021;
- Order of the Director of the Customs Service No. 516-O of 07.12.2023 "On the approval of the declaration of currency values, requirements for the declaration form, and the instruction for completing, submitting the declaration of currency values, verification, and customs clearance approval.

What Does the Declaration of Currency Values Entail?
An individual must declare transported currency values using the currency values declaration form when the total amount (cash, specifically banknotes and coins (excluding those containing precious metals), securities, and payment instruments expressed in national or foreign currency) exceeds 10,000 EUR (or their equivalent) per person/trip.
When and Where Should the Currency Values Declaration Be Submitted?
The completed and signed currency values declaration, along with the transported currency values, must be presented for customs control at the customs border crossing point, both upon entering and exiting the Republic of Moldova.
When Must the Currency Values Declaration Be Completed?
According to the new Customs Code of the Republic of Moldova, individuals are required, as before, to submit a written declaration of currency values when the total amount exceeds 10,000 EUR.
The form must be completed at the customs border crossing point, both upon entry into and exit from the country.
It is prohibited to introduce or remove cash in national and foreign currency, as well as foreign currency traveler's checks, in unaccompanied luggage by an individual.

The import/export of coins containing precious metals into/from the Republic of Moldova by residents and non-residents is carried out in accordance with the legislation governing precious metals and related items, specifically Law No. 282/2004 on the Regulation of Precious Metals and Gemstones.
The dispatch of currency values to/from the Republic of Moldova via international postal shipments by residents and non-residents is conducted in compliance with the provisions of Moldovan legislation regulating international postal shipments, specifically Law No. 36/2016 on Postal Communications.
